I asked Getty to provide me with some information about the alleged copyright. I have not heard back yet.
After reading the posts on this site, I decided to take some action, do some research and post my first "action" where it counts. This is the #1 site for webmasters and they do care about the web-crawlers and their end-users:
http://www.webmasterworld.com/webmaster_business_issues/4353522.htm
We can take steps to mess with their web-bot crawlers and we can indeed encourage all ISP or server banks to take action to block the trolling and warn their customers because Getty is taking money from their customers and stealing bandwidth.
After doing my research, I believe that there are TWO huge class action suits to put together here. Easily over 1Billion Dollars per case. One will hit Getty Images on the blind side. Lawyers wanted...
I do believe that we should investigate the possibility of asking for a modification to the DMCA under the three year revision rule, perhaps requiring one month take-down period before allowing suit.
I hope that this site gets the traffic that it deserves and that you all look at the Community Action portion of the post and start digging into that list with action. I am on it right now and will continue to provide names and addresses as time allows.
I hope that this site takes protective action to block Getty (I know there are no images here, but just for fun and sport). "It ain't done till Getty's on the run..."
