Stinger, Jerry, Mulligan, Moe, etc.
It gratifies me that all of you are so observant about the lack of SEO-friendliness in the ELI Factor episodes and caring enough to articulate your thoughts.
Here is where I am at & my thoughts on the matter.
1. Ideally, every episode would have an SEO-friendly title with accurate descriptions with complete sentences and the like. YouTube & Vimeo are the two places where ELI videos are hosted. YouTube has all kinds of weird rules, restrictions, complaint systems, etc. so I don't feel comfortable solely depending on YouTube. If YouTube shuts our account down or any video for whatever reason, it leaves us vulnerable. Hence, Vimeo is the preferred link for control purposes. To ignore YouTube is just stupid and so ELI has a strong presence there also.
2. "Home Base" for the ELI Factor episodes are "supposed" to be viewing the blog episode entry with the video embedded and show notes attached.
http://www.extortionletterinfo.com/category/eli-factor/However, I haven't done a good job "enforcing" this by simply "allowing" the videos to be viewed directly. More than likely, "someone" (probably me) will have to go back to all the posted ELI videos and add better titles and descriptions at some point.
3. The goal is to have ELI Factor episodes released with some degree of predictable schedule frequency. Obviously, that hasn't happened yet simply because ELI is no one's "job". It is just the core group doing what they can, when they can. The fact we have have reached 7 episodes is miraculous enough. The first season will be "completed" when 2012 ends. We probably won't have much more than a dozen episodes by then.
4. Robert is correct in that there are plans to video syndicate the episodes. However, before I invest the time, energy, and a tiny bit of money to syndicate, we need to have enough episodes first and then we need to have some rough schedule to follow. Of course, this is in concert with making each episode SEO friendly as well.
5. Although the ELI Forums is where the action is for most of us "old-timers", it is a bit intimidating for most newcomers. Hence, ELI has the blog side to "highlight" the most important topics and discussions. It also happens to carry more SEO weight in Google. Again, the online tools are there but a matter of time to keep the entries current.
6. There will not likely to be any transcripts. The ELI Factor is meant to be seen & heard, not read. People who want to read have to rely on the ELI Blog and the ELI Forums. I know only the most "freakiest" of the ELI Community members will follow ALL the different platforms.
7. It's important to understand that it is very difficult to do a job to accommodate all people. The ELI Factor will always be a niche show for those who want to get the latest scoop on copyright extortions. The show allows us to go beyond the ELI Forum posts and do a personal touch. For the foreseeable future, anyone wants the latest scoop will always tune into the ELI Forums. The ELI Blog and ELI Factor will be secondary sources and a supportive role to the raw juice we serve on the ELI Forums.
8. The scope of ELI has grown so large, it is difficult for any single one of us (including Robert, Oscar, and myself) to know what is going on anymore. What "ELI" knows is now a collective effort currently lead by the 3 of us and extended further with all of you in the ELI Community. The ELI Forums will be the central hangout place for the collective knowledge. It used to be Oscar and I knew about everything that went on within ELI and all the issues being discussed and researched. Not anymore. Even Oscar has to check in on the ELI Forums to see what's going on. I have to make status check calls to Robert to find out what's going on.
9. It used to be I did a lot of online research. But seeing that the ELI Community has that well-licked, I focus on "bigger picture" issues like seeing what is on the horizon, ELI presence strategy, defense strategies, media strategies, important legal cases, creating new relationships with other websites like FightCopyrightTrolls.com, PlagiarismToday.com, etc. I also feel compelled to write and comment on certain topics to "shape" and influence what is being discussed today. Of course, I would be remiss in saying that I maintain a direct line and dialog with Oscar to ensure our working partnership and friendship on which ELI was built on remains strong. I think we can all agree that while all of us are "important" in our own way to ELI, Oscar's role as legal advisor on ELI is unique and priceless. My working relationship and friendship with Oscar will NEVER be delegated.
10. I got a little bit off-track in this post but I thought the ELI Community deserved to know what's going on "inside" ELI. Lots of moving pieces nowadays. The downside, of course, is trying to keep up with it all. However, just know that I read all the feedback and comments to improve ELI even though I am not as active as I might prefer nowadays.
