Tonight, we received a Scribd DMCA takedown notification of the "Copyright Defense League Settlement Agreement & Release" within our ELI Document Library hosted by Scribd.
ELI followers know this is not the first time ELI has had to deal with bogus DMCA takedown notices. We have successfully restored nearly every document that was taken down. I expect this will be no different.
Presumably, the folks at Copyright Defense League (Dan B. Levine and Randy G. Taylor) thinks they have actually accomplished something with their DMCA complaint to Scribd. They will soon see this will backfire on them.
Copyright extortionists cannot cover their tracks this easily. I have made a formal request to Scribd to disclose the identity of the original complainer and will post those results once I receive them.
